HSM celebrates the European Data Protection Day during Paperworld

The Paperworld trade fair has been a permanent fixture for years in calendars in the PBS branch. The leading trade fair will once again be HSM’s platform to present our new additions and current range – but this year we will also be celebrating European Data Protection Day with an informative programme of events.

European Data Protection Day was initiated by the Council of Europe as a day of action for data protection. It has been celebrated annually on the 28th of January since 2007. This date has its roots in the signing of the European Data Protection Convention on January 28th 1981. The goal of the European Data Protection Day, in which all those in Europe who deal with data protection should take part with events and campaigns, is to increase public awareness of data protection and its necessity. All those organizations who are tasked with data protection should organize events. In 2008 the United States and Canada joined this initiative of the European Commission. Since then, these countries hold Data Privacy Day on the same day as the European Data Protection Day.

Data protection affects everybody and represents the basic right that each person can principally decide who can access their personal data and when. The goal of data protection is, amongst other things, to prevent the “transparent person” and all its associated consequences. HSM takes this mission seriously and sees itself as a guide in this context. Paperworld is, once again therefore, an opportunity for HSM to focus on data protection – and on the European Data Protection Day in particular – by holding an informative and interesting programme of events on our trade fair stand.

Continuation of the Data Protection Campaign

The subjects of GDPR and ISO/IEC 21964 are still highly topical and so HSM is continuing their eye-catching data protection campaign in 2019. The campaign, with the striking slogan “Don’t make the same mistake! Shred – don’t bin it“, was elaborated and intensified to attract even more attention to data protection. HSM wants to use a large number of case studies from a wide variety of branches to make the public aware of just how quickly personal data can get into the wrong hands. The core message is: it really does concern everyone - protect yourself with an HSM document shredder.

HSM has a wide range of extensive advertising material available for the retail trade. There is also additional useful information under www.hsm.eu/data-protection which deals comprehensively with the subject of data protection.

Extension of the Travel Voucher Campaign

The travel voucher campaign which was started in 2018 for the retail sector and its customers was so popular that it will be extended to 31.12.2019. Under the new motto “Discover the world with HSM document shredders!”, a travel voucher will be given away with the purchase of one of the campaign products – as in 2018. For the retail branch, there is extensive campaign advertising material which includes images of the HSM document shredders in holiday landscapes, online-banners, a landing page, promotional flyers and a variety of advertising material for retail outlets.
