An interesting Academy Package: SECURIO and Data Protection

06.11.2007 - Salem

The HSM Academy extends its programme with the new SECURIO data protection training. The first training on this topic took place in October and members of the specialist trade were pleased to take the opportunity to learn more about the new SECURIO document shredder models and the topic of "data protection".

Two days were planned for this Academy training. After the welcome, the attention of the participants was called to the highly critical topic of data protection by Rudolf Meister, HSM Key Account Manager. He wanted to create awareness already with his first question: "How do you dispose of data media that are no longer needed?". Although a Federal Trade Protection Act has been in force in Germany since 2003 and the companies are obliged to appoint a so-called "company data protection officer", many companies neglect this topic.

Rudolf Meister could provide a number of negative headlines since he had diligently collected examples for the data protection training. Here are some extracts from his data "cabinet of horrors": "Tübingen, Germany: Police records in the trash", "Schorndorf: Paper container provides information on neighbour's income" or "Albstadt: Lawyer's records in household waste". This series could be continued infinitely.

A very embarrassing situation for the persons concerned can be converted to an initial starting point for discussing a sensitive topic for the office supply dealer. After lunch, Stefan Schraff, Marketing and Product Manager began with the presentation of the SECURIO document shredders www.securio.com. Not only was the equipment presented and tested in detail, but the marketing activities and sales promotion material for the trade were discussed.

Stefan Schraff was pleased to have the dealers become involved with this topic. Wishes, improvements and new ideas were directly discussed and implemented.
After such an informative day, the participants relaxed and exchanged experiences in the evening while visiting the Salem Castle and during the following wine tasting www.salem.de.

The second day started with tours of the production facilities in the HSM factories in Salem and Frickingen and ended with the presentation of the certificates to every individual participant.
